Jackie used to have a bee in her bonnet regarding the alcoholic strength of wine. She would lambast bottles showing strengths of 11% and more, saying she wished winemakers would produce wines of 6% to 10% - as then she could safely drink more of it. From then we would look at the label on any bottle served to us and remark her “You can’t have any of this, Jackie, it’s far too strong for you!” Invariably, she would smile and raise her glass in acknowledgement.
