Ellie 1st April 2020

Lots of people are described as the life and soul of the party. But in Jackie’s case it’s true. Not just because she was great fun but because she brought light, laughter and warmth into the room, and people loved being around her. I will never forget going to my first family wedding with George, Jackie and Gareth. George and I didn’t know many people our age there, so I thought it might be quite tame. This was clearly before getting to know the Inshaws! Watching Jackie and Ian explode onto the dance floor was a wonderful reminder of what a fun family I’d been welcomed into. Jackie’s enthusiasm didn’t even wane when the music switched from wedding classics to drum and bass, and she was soon in charge of the make shift limbo line! I think I probably felt a little bit self conscious dancing wildly in front of a load of people I didn’t know. And that was one of the things I most admired about Jackie. She wasn’t afraid of anything. She was so confident - never afraid to try new things, never afraid to be herself. Jackie was so thoughtful. I know she was always thinking of George and me as whenever we went round there’d undoubtedly be a new sausage dog related item that she’d purchased with us in mind. Little tokens to let us know she cared. A few things that will always remind me of her: Hovis Best of Both Bread “one small sandwich is just the right size”; tiny cans of lemonade “a full one is too much”; soda water “it hydrates you more than still water”; the tricycles at centre parcs; playing with Max and Edie and shouting “I’m a squid” Jackie - you cared for and loved your family so much and let me be part of that. I can’t believe you’re gone. I’ll miss your signature chuckle and I’ll treasure my bobbly dachshund jumper forever. We love you XX From Ellie
